Monza (Italy) (AFP) - Britain's 2008 world champion Lewis Hamilton bounced back to win the Italian Grand Prix at Monza on Sunday for his 28th career victory and eat away at team-mate Nico Rosberg's championship lead.
The 29-year-old -- who recorded his sixth win of the season -- came home ahead of Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg, who earnt his first podium finish in the Italian Grand Prix, while Brazilian veteran Felipe Massa secured his first top three finish of the season for Williams.
Hamilton produced a great drive having had a terrible start, slipping down to fourth, but he gradually battled back into contention and forced his team-mate into a mistake which allowed him to take a lead he never relinquished.
Hamilton's win -- which comes a fortnight after a controversial clash between him and Rosberg that effectively ended the Briton's race in Belgium -- saw him reduce the German's lead in the title race to 22 points.
